An iron-catalyzed aerobic oxidative C-C bond cleavage of ketones RC(O)R1 (R = 4-methoxyphenyl, Ph, thiophen-2-yl, etc.; R1 = R1 = Me, Et, n-Pr, pentyl, 2-oxopropyl) for the synthesis of primary amides RC(O)NH2 has been developed using TEMPO and oxygen as an oxidant.
